James Dykes, B.Arch., Architect, AAA, MRAIC - Architectural and Engineering Resources, Western, PWGSC
Mr. Dykes has over 38 years in the design of University, Healthcare and Research Facilities. He is currently involved with the National Knowledge
Laboratory Network Other Activities include Founding member of the Innovative Practice Group in Architecture; Assistant Adjunct Professor in the
Architecture Program at the University of Calgary; Vice-Chair of the NAIT Architectural Advisory Council. He is a member of The Alberta Association
of Architects (on Council for 6 years); The AAA/APEGGA Joint Board of Practice; The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and; Construction
Specification Canada
Paul Fuson PE, Sr. Product Managerfor Life Sciences and Critical Enviornments, Siemens Building Tehcnology
Since joining the company in 1984, Paul has held positions in purchasing, product development, marketing and sales management. Paul’s
earliest work experience was as a design engineer and project manager for a manufacturer of nuclear and gas turbine power generation
systems. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics from the University of Illinois, and a Masters of
Management degree from Northwestern University.
F. Kurt Last - President, Specialty Operations Solutions, Inc.
Mr. Last has more than 20 years experience in programming, design, commissioning and operating laboratory, cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing
and research animal care facilities. Prior to founding Specialty Operations Solutions (SOS) in 1997, Mr. Last was Senior Director of Operations for a
cGMP biologics manufacturing company, leading teams charged with Facilities (Research & cGMP Manufacturing) Operations; Calibration &
Metrology; Research Animal Care and Security, Environmental Health & Safety. SOS provides programming, design, financing, sciences integration &
quality assurance, veterinary & research animal care support, complete (FDA) regulatory services, commissioning & start up, and operations.
Victor A. Neuman, PE – Application Engineer – Precision Environments Group
Mr. Neuman has over 26 years of experience in planning, design, and construction of laboratory, research, colo, data center, clean room, educational,
governmental, institutional, commercial, and industrial facilities. He has worked on the design of mechanical and piping systems for over 100
laboratory and research buildings in both the academic and corporate sectors. His largest project was while at Earl Walls Associates where he served
Engineer-of-Record for most of the design phase of a $120 million lab for Novartis which won the Lab of the Year Award. Mr. Neuman is a
recognized expert in lab design and energy conservation. Mr. Neuman also is an original co-author of American National Standards Institute (ANSI.)
Joe Phillips, AIA, MBA - Health and Science Practice Leader - Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP (SOM)
Mr. Phillips is responsible for general management and advancing innovation
and design excellence for this respected international design practice.
Throughout his career, Mr. Phillips has generated significant growth for firms
serving healthcare and research organizations. He has been a leader on capital
projects worldwide for prominent research and healthcare enterprises and has
successfully executed senior management responsibilities over the course of
his 20-year career with top architecture and engineering firms. For 15 years
prior, Mr. Phillips was a scientist and operations manager responsible for
technology development and transfer for healthcare and science organizations
leading to the establishment of several successful healthcare service ventures.
He has served on the U.S. Green Building Council's Core Committee
responsible for the development of the LEED Application Guide for
Laboratories.
Anthony (Tony) Rossi, ME - Director of Laboratory Exhaust Systems - Greenheck Fan Corporation
Anthony (Tony) Rossi, is Director of Laboratory Exhaust Systems, Greenheck Fan Corporation, Schofield, Wisconsin. Tony has a Bachelors & Masters
degree in Mechanical Engineering, and has over 30 years experience in the industrial ventilation industry, the past 15 dedicated to laboratory ventilation. An active member in ASHRAE TC 9.10, Lab Systems, Tony has also served on both ASHRAE and ARI standards development committees, as well the Education
Committee Chair for ASHRAE Central Indiana.
Dwayne Willmer, P.Eng. - National Director of the Laboratory Market Segment for the Real Property Branch, PWGSC
Mr. Willmer is primary role in this function is to provide Government of Canada laboratory custodians with a central business contact within the
Department. PWGSC has a proven history of project managing the planning, design, construction and commissioning of complex laboratories in Canada
and abroad. By taking a national business approach to the laboratory market segment within the Government of Canada, PWGSC will continue to provide
and sustain the highest level of strategic and technical advisory services, expertise, and best practices in a consistent fashion to all Government
of Canada laboratory custodians. Prior to his current assignment, Dwayne was the Regional Director of Professional and Technical Services for the
department in Western Region for 10 years, and has a 33 year career in the engineering profession in both the private and public sectors.
Jon Zboralski - Director of Air Products - ThermoFisher Scientific
Mr. Zboralski has over 30 years experience in the design and development of laboratory furniture and fume hoods. Involved in the development of the
ASHRAE 110 tracer gas test. Serves on the SEFA Fume Hood Committee. He has published, author and holds numerous patents on airflow related
products.
